What a tour looks like

You walk the whole property with one of us. All 36 acres of it: the open lawn, the treeline, the covered barn, the spots couples keep choosing for their ceremony. We will show you where the reception sets up, where your guests park, where you will get ready, and where the restrooms are. Most tours run about 45 minutes. Nobody is going to rush you toward a contract at the end of it.

Bring every question you have, including the awkward ones about budget and logistics. That is what the 45 minutes are for.

What to bring with you

• Anyone whose opinion matters. Parents, your wedding party, your planner. There is room for all of them.
• A rough guest count. Highland Oaks holds up to 300, and the layout looks very different at 80 guests than it does at 250.
• Your date, or the two or three you are weighing. Tell us when you book and we will have the calendar checked before you arrive.
• Shoes you can walk in. The best parts of this place are outside.

Getting here

Highland Oaks is at 4175 US Highway 150, Palmyra, IN 47164. That is about 25 minutes from downtown Louisville, Kentucky, and roughly 90 minutes from Indianapolis. If guests are staying overnight, the hotels in Corydon and New Albany are 15 to 25 minutes from the property.

Tour questions we get a lot

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, please book a time. It is a private working property, and booking ahead means it is ready for you rather than mid-mow. Our hours are Monday through Saturday, 9am to 8pm, and Sunday, 1pm to 4pm.

Can we still tour if it rains?

Yes. The barn is covered, so there is always somewhere dry to stand and talk it through. A rainy tour is also the most honest way to see what your own rain plan would actually look like.

Will we talk about pricing on the tour?

Yes, and you do not have to wait for the tour to see it. Every rate is published on our pricing page before you drive out, and we will walk through it with you in person.

How long is the venue ours on the wedding day?

Twelve hours on the day itself, plus an hour of rehearsal time. More detail on that, and on vendors, alcohol and setup, lives on our FAQ page.

What if the date we want is already taken?

Tell us the date when you book the tour and we will check it before you make the drive. Peak season here is April, May, September, October and November, and those Saturdays go first.

Highland Oaks Weddings and Events is a family-owned outdoor and barn wedding venue in Palmyra, Indiana, set on 36 acres of lawn and woods in Harrison County, just across the river from Louisville. It was Moonlit Farms before we took it over; the ground, the treeline and the barn are the same, and the name on the sign is new.
